This article proposes an overview of the main software available to the transcriber to facilitate its work and ensure the quality of transcripts. The goal is twofold. On the one hand, a summary of the existing tools (24 softwares are treated) and the main technical characteristics of each of them are available. There is indeed an overabundant offer in the field, to the point that it is difficult to navigate for the average user. On the other hand, this article does not simply propose a list of tools but nine simple criteria allowing to choose the software most adapted to the needs of its research, its corpus and its competences: role of the problematic and the research subject, specificity of the field, platform on which the tool works, availability of the software, mode of representation of the data, articulation of the supports, format of the data, tools of reading and treatment of the sound, functions of analysis proposed by these software.
